Lindstrom Insurance was established in 1995 by Betty J. Lindstrom, FLMI, RHU, FHIAS. Our goal is to provide our clients with the best policies for their needs, at the lowest possible price. Current Customers have been pleased with the services they’ve received, and we’re proud to have been a ValueStar Certified service provider when they were in business. ValueStar verified licensing, credit and other legal requirements, and then asked for 400 customer names and phone numbers. After checking with customers, a business must receive at least 85% positive responses from customers to attain this Gold rating. Our rating was even higher!

In the insurance business since 1975, Betty Lindstrom has held positions in the home office of a life insurance company, two agency offices, a brokerage general agency, a financial planning company, worked as a Carrier Representative and Sales Manager for AIG, managed a benefits department for a general insurance brokerage office, and established Lindstrom Insurance in 1995.
We will be certified to offer the new Individual and Family as well as Group Plans through the California Exchange website Covered CA, and SHOP as soon as this training becomes available.
She has earned the FLMI (Fellow, Life Management Institute), RHU (Registered Health Underwriter), and FHIAS (Fellow Health Insurance Advanced Studies) designations. These are degrees obtained after completion of a course of study involving Company Operations, Mathematics, Law, Underwriting, Claims, as well as specialty areas such as Life Insurance, Disability Insurance, Medical and Dental plans, Long Term Care, Medicare Plans, Health Care Reform, and Retirement Plans.

Vicki Melendy joined the office in January of 2002 and received her Life and Disability Insurance License in April of 2002. She has her Masters Degree in Geology from Wayne State University and is the mother of three. She’s a talented musician, playing the piano and organ at the Soquel Congregational Church. (Yes, she does weddings if you’re interested).
You’ll enjoy Vicki’s help with your insurance questions and selecting the right plan for your situation. She can offer advice and research your technical and compliance questions in areas like COBRA, HIPAA, and CalCOBRA. If you ever need help getting a claim paid or understanding your benefits, you’ll appreciate her complete knowledge of your plan and patience dealing with the insurance carriers.
Carol Lacki joined Lindstrom Insurance in 2003. She’s married, has three grown children, and has lived in the Santa Cruz area for many years.
Carol is our office manager, providing many services, including following up with insurance companies for changes requested by clients, troubleshooting claims, investigating premium discrepancies, etc. You’ll appreciate her diligence as she works with the insurance companies to see that your requests are handled correctly. If you need a prompt answer to a service question, a form or benefit description sent to you, wish to schedule an appointment, or almost anything else, Carol is in the office to help.
Sir Nigel of Seabrook was our office mascot and Chief of Security. He’s a ten year old Newfoundland dog and provides comic relief for stressed brokers and clients. His professional credentials include passing three levels of obedience training (although we think the last advancement was a social promotion based on his size). Unfortunately, Nigel passed away in August, 2010. He is missed by all of us.
Since his diagnosis of Lymphosarcoma (Cancer) in March of 2002, and the treatment that followed, he’s very aware of the need for preventive care and rapid claims processing. He’s a very compassionate listener and will be happy to help you through your stressful times. Unfortunately, he does not read emails well and types poorly, so we advise clients and friends to communicate in person wherever possible. If you’d like Nigel to help with your next employee meeting or benefits fair, book early as his schedule does fill up rapidly!
